The desire by our federal government to implement a national tracking and ID system did not start with the REAL ID Act in 2005. Under the guise of security, it has been attempted numerous times in the past, even during Ronald Reagan’s administration. The Senate voted against a national ID card system three separate times.

STOP Dangerous ID Rally Held at VA State Capitol

Beautiful weather and nearly 150 concerned Virginians showed at 1 P.M. near the Capitol Bell Tower in Richmond Wednesday, January 21, 2009, for the STOP DANGEROUS ID rally organized by Donna Holt, President of Virginia Liberty Defense.

The attorney who successfully challenged the constitutionality of the Hampton Roads Transportion Authority last year, Patrick McSweeney, served as Master of Ceremones.

Senator Ken Cuccinelli Announces Support for H.B.1587

Senator Ken Cuccinelli announced that he will co-sponsor Delegate Bob Marshall's H.B.1587 to opt out of the federally mandated Dangerous Real ID Act 0f 2005.

The bill has been inappropriately assigned to the Militia, Police and Public Safety Committee. No doubt the bill will be slowed down with a likely referral to the Transportation Committee where Yvonne Miller's S.B.1046, to change the code of Virginia to comply with Dangerous ID, will be considered.

Va Liberty Defense will lead a coalition of 11 other organizations to rally in support of Delegate Bob Marshall's H.B.1587 to stop the implementation of Dangerous ID, the so-called Real ID scam, in Virginia.

The Tidewater Libertarian Party Endorses H.B.1587

As a sign of support in opposition of the proposed federal Real ID Act, the Tidewater Libertarian Party at their January 3, 2009 general meeting, voted unanimously to endorse Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall's House Bill 1587 that has been proposed to the General Assembly.
